MacFamilyTree places a rich environment at your disposal, in which you can build and maintain family trees. It allows you to store a huge amount of information and it provides numerous tools for managing and assigning the information. The application is capable of displaying a family tree in various ways, from actual trees to spreadsheets or pie charts.

Most of the work is done automatically for you. It is sufficient to add people to the database. The application will establish all relationships, according to how you insert new persons. You can find clear and easy to spot options for adding a persons's parents, spouse or children. Adding a new person to the database can be done by simply filling in a series of input fields.

MacFamilyTree is not limited to displaying people in a family tree. It allows you to assign a huge amount of details to single persons, besides basic ones, like names, birth dates and so on. It is also possible to compile a photo gallery and to assign pictures to each family member. Based on the information you assign, you can view all sorts of reports and charts, on separate tabs.

The application comes with a research assistant, which can help you assign more information in a speedy fashion. The assistant will ask you a series of questions and it will assign details to people automatically, based on your answers. Another important aspect is the fact that MacFamilyTree can connect to a FamilySearch account and exchange information. What's more, the application provides full support for GEDCOM, which means that you can export your project in a format that is compatible with many other family tree applications.

Pros

The application makes it easy to create and illustrate a family tree. It establishes all relationships automatically. It can connect to a FamilySearch account and it provides support for GEDCOM.

Cons

There are no obvious drawbacks to mention. Researching and illustrating a family tree can be a simple and straightforward task with MacFamilyTree.
